Make sure your manuscript is in the best possible shape before submitting to us. Do not submit queries for manuscripts that are not yet completed or edited. Get some feedback from a writer's group or have a developmental edit done. Make sure your work has been proofread and is error free.

We do not charge fees or nor do we provide or suggest any services. All manuscripts will be evaluated for publication as ebook, paperback and audiobook on a royalty basis. Currently we do not offer advances. Terms will include exclusive right to publish and audiobook production for a set period of time, with the author retaining copyright. A typical contract is 30% net royalties (after production costs and taxes). Net applies only to the production cost and taxes on your own works and will never include 'administration fees' or other such nonsense. Royalties are paid quarterly.

Due to the volume of submissions we receive, submissions will periodically be closed.

We only accept queries submitted through the QueryManager form which is accessed by clicking the button at the bottom of this page. If submissions are CLOSED please do not try to submit your manuscript through another Here Be Dragons Publishing email address, any such submissions will deleted without being read. Any physically mailed submissions will be destroyed without acknowledgement.

We accept both agented and unagented submissions of previously UNPUBLISHED works. We do not accept any previously published works, including self-published.

We accept simultaneous submissions but request that if you place your manuscript with another publisher you promptly withdraw your manuscript from our consideration.

Unfortunately the number of submissions we receive prevents us from personal replies and our editors cannot offer personalized evaluations or suggestions for improvement of your work.

Please query only one manuscript at a time. 

 

Do not send interior or cover art or an author photo.

We do not require a synopsis or outline. The writing will speak for itself. 

 

Through the form you will be submit:​

• Your contact information

• Information about your book, including the title, the word count, what Romance genre you feel it best fits.

• A short query letter that tells us a little about you and the book you're submitting. Please tell us if you have any previously published works, commercial or self-published, their titles and what name or pen name, publisher, etc. they were available under.

• An upload of the first three chapters of your book, double-spaced, in Times New Roman 12 pt. in doc, docx or pdf format.
